Our Dental Hygienist are crucial in the promotion and implementation of preventive oral care.

Through personalised advice on oral hygiene practices, our Dental Hygienists guide patients towards achieving and sustaining optimal oral health. Regular professional teeth cleaning play a vital role in preventing the onset of tooth decay and gum disease, ensuring the longevity and well-being of your dental health.

Our dental hygienist collaborates with dentists to provide oral health advice and care, focusing on improving oral hygiene. Regular hygiene visits include scaling and polishing with our Prophy-Jet, removing stains and debris from hard-to-reach areas, crucial for healthy gums. For patients with dental sensitivity, we offer anaesthetic options to ensure a pain-free experience.

Once periodontal disease is treated and controlled long term maintenance care is
required. This involves visits to the hygienist at three monthly intervals. Long term clinical studies indicate that this maintenance phase of treatment is most important for periodontal health and stability. The rational for this is that over a three month period the bacteria, which form dental plaque, accumulate at the gum tooth/implant interface change from those associated with periodontal health to periodontal disease.

During this visit the hygienist will perform a number of important tasks. The amount of plaque around the teeth will be recorded. Advice will be given on the location of plaque build-up and strategies to remove it. Then the teeth and implants are thoroughly cleaned. Treatment is especially focused on the area where the tooth or implant meets or protrudes through the gum tissues.

What’s to expect from a visit to a Dental Hygienist?

During a comprehensive hygiene visit, our Dental Hygienists meticulously clean teeth and gums, focusing particularly on the critical gum-tooth interface to achieve optimal gum health.

Utilising the Prophy-Jet, an advanced air polishing system, they effectively remove stains and debris from areas beyond the reach of conventional polishing methods. This thorough cleaning process not only enhances the health of your gums and teeth but also significantly improves the overall aesthetics of your smile.

Recognizing that some patients may experience sensitivity, we offer the option of anaesthetic gel or injections to ensure a comfortable and pain-free experience.

The clinic is very professional. I had an appointment with Dr Paul and then with Lucia. Both were excellent, treatment and advice was spot on. Reception staff were accommodating and friendly and organised a suitable appointment time. I felt in good hands from start to finish.

Traveling around long term so we wanted to keep up our dental hygiene on the road. Since we have gum issues, we were specifically looking for someone with a good periodontal practice for our cleaning but wouldn’t require us to go through a whole new patient appointment since we have doctors at home but just wanted to keep up our cleaning regimen while traveling. They were happy to book appointments for us with just the hygienist, Maria, who we thought did a thorough job. Cleaning is about the same cost as at home (€90 each). We were pleased and if we ever move to Ireland or need another cleaning while we are here, we would definitely come back.
